Abstract

This article reflects on the relationship between migration processes and cultural dynamics in Cuba, with particular emphasis on their impact on performing and artistic practices. Drawing on Cuba’s insular condition and the multiple journeys that have historically shaped Cuban cultural identity, the study examines how migration has generated diverse theatrical narratives produced both within and beyond the national territory. It also addresses the challenges these processes pose in relation to the transformation of ways of life within a context marked by more than six decades of revolutionary continuity. To support this discussion, the article analyzes several creative works that engage with these issues, including 10 Millones by Carlos Celdrán, Jacuzzi by Yunior García Aguilera, Entropía by Lilianne Lugo, 8 Degrees Northeast by Charles Wrapner, and El Collar, a stage production by Osvaldo Doimeadiós. These works provide an initial critical perspective on the tensions among migration, family relationships, and theatrical creation in contemporary Cuban society.
