The González Caballero Method

Abstract

The proposal of this article is to reflect on a work methodology tailored for Mexican actresses and actors, based on the Antonio González Caballero Method. This method revolves around identity and self-knowledge while simultaneously exploring the teacher’s biography, the student’s creativity, and the character’s identity—elements that nourish the body and voice, resulting in a scenic outcome. It also draws from a wealth of knowledge that does not advocate a linear inquiry but instead considers essential elements: imagination, energy, and emotion.

The AGC model divides the body into six zones of study, thus referencing acting models prevalent in the second half of the 20th century, along with various other methodological influences (such as Kabbalistic traditions, numerology, psychoanalysis, and psychodrama, among others).
