History of the Journal: Dialéctica Escénica

Dialéctica Escénica is an open-access, indexed, and peer-reviewed electronic journal utilizing a double-blind review system. Edited by the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (UANL) through the Faculty of Performing Arts, it was established in 2024 to foster exchange and dialogue regarding performing arts research at both national and international levels.

This initiative was spearheaded by the administration of M.A.E. Deyanira Triana Verástegui, Dean of the Faculty, alongside faculty members M.A. Armandina Yarezi Salazar Díaz and M.A.E. Bernardo Martínez Evaristo. They invited Dr. Eduardo Oliva Abarca to join the project, recognizing his distinguished profile as a researcher and his extensive experience in scientific publishing.

The project officially commenced in January 2024. During this time, Mr. Dagoberto Salas, a member of the UANL’s General Directorate of Technologies and Digital Development, trained the editorial team on platform management and the editorial process.

To consolidate the journal’s academic standing, a robust Scientific Committee was established, comprising prestigious researchers from universities in Argentina, Peru, Chile, Costa Rica, and California, as well as leading Mexican institutions.

On June 30, 2024, Dialéctica Escénica published its inaugural issue, becoming a milestone as the first performing arts research journal in northern Mexico. That same year, it successfully achieved indexing in major academic databases and catalogs, including Google Scholar, Dialnet Plus, Crossref, and LatinRev, significantly expanding its reach and visibility within the scientific community.

As a scientific journal with a transdisciplinary focus, Dialéctica Escénica seeks to integrate diverse perspectives into the study of performing arts. Throughout its editions, it has served as a space for academic reflection, addressing key themes such as performing arts poetics, cultural management, theater pedagogy, and the impact of new technologies—including virtual environments—on performance practice.

Published by the UANL Faculty of Performing Arts, Dialéctica Escénica brings together the work of researchers, educators, and specialists in theater, dance, and performance. Their contributions of research articles, reflection papers, and reviews continue to enrich the field. With every issue, the journal strengthens its commitment to the dissemination of knowledge and the consolidation of an academic and artistic network that transcends borders.
